PEMANFAATAN SUMBER DAYA IKAN DI PERAIRAN GUGUSAN PULAU PARI, KEPULAUAN SERIBU
Abstract
This research has been conducted during the periods of March, June, August, and November 2008. The objectives of the research were to study the fishing activities and resources condition through observation on the abundance, catch composition, and length frequency distribution. Fishing activities was concentrated in the southern part of Pari Island cluster, consists of pots, scope nets, lift nets, hooks and lines, troll lines, monofilament gillnets, and muroami. Catch in the Pari Islands was relatively low, while the highest was muroami with the average catch was 63 kg/boat/trip/day and the lowest catch was the pot with average was 4 kg/boat/5 pots/2 days. The dominant of catch by monofilament gillnet is Siganus (Rabbit fish), by trap is Scarus (Parrot fish) and by muroami is Caesio (Trevalies). Length frequency distribution of dominant species is presented. Based on the data analysed and information gathered from fishers can be concluded that fish resource potential in Pari Islands is relatively low. It is recommended that seagrass meadow as juvenile habitat should be protected.
