Abstract

Parameter pertumbuhan dianalisis berdasarkan pergeseran modus kelas panjang karapas.

Sustainable management of ornate spiny lobster (Panulirus ornatus Fabricius, 1798) required information about growth parameter and exploitation status. The aims of this research were to study the growth parameter and the exploitation status of ornate spiny lobster in Sorong Waters. The research was conducted in June 2015 - June 2016. The growth parameters were based on the Modal Progression Analysis. Exploitation status was estimated based on length based spawning potential ratio (LB-SPR). The results showed that the growth of lobster was relatively slow with the growth rate (K) of 0,34 year-1 for male and 0,33 year-1 for female. The asymptotic carapace length was 174,05 mm for male and 162,75 mm for female. Exploitation rate (E) of lobster were 0,42-0,44. The current spawning potential ratio was 0,32, greater than the overfishing threshold of 0,2. Exploitation status based on exploitation rate and spawning potential ratio was still below of the optimum point. The management option was that the efforts can be increased by approximately 12% of the current effort.
