Abstract

Iridovirus have been detected from mass mortality events on several cultured marine fish species, namely Cromileptes altivelis (I), Epinephelus fuscoguttatus (II), Plectropomus leopardus (III), and Lates calcarifer (IV), in Institute for Mariculture Research and Develepment, Gondol Bali. The aims of this study was to analize the homology of nucleotide sequences of Megalocytivirus isolated from several grouper and sea bass. PCR amplification using Pst1 flanking (1-F and 1-R) region primer set resulted 566-573 base pair. Nucleotide sequence of the amplicons have 96,2% identity among them. Homology analysis showed that they were 93%-99% similar to other member of Megalocytivirus. Homology analysis suggested that isolate were I homolog to III, whereas isolate were II homolog IV.
