SEND INSTRUCTIONS FOR WRITING AND PUBLISHING ARTICLES OF JOURNAL SEGARA 2005 (12pt Bold)

ABSTRACT (12pt Bold)

This is a new author guidelines and article template of Journal Segara since year 2005 publication. Article should be started by Title of Article followed by Authors Name and Affiliation Address and abstract. This abstract section should be typed in Italic font and font size of 10 pt and number of words of 150-250. Special for the abstract section, please use left margin of 3 cm, right margin of 2.5 cm, right margin of 2.5 cm and bottom margin of 2.5 cm. The single spacing should be used between lines in this article. If article is written in Indonesian, the abstract should be typed in Indonesian and English. Meanwhile, if article is written in English, the abstract should be typed in English only. The abstract should be typed as concise as possible and should be composed of: problem statement, method, scientific finding results, and short conclusion. The abstract should only be typed in one paragraph and one-column format.

1. Introduction

Journal Segara has a p-ISSN: 1907-0659, e-ISSN: 2461-1166 with Accreditation Number: 704/AU3/P2MI-LIPI/10/2015 (period October 2015 - October 2021). First edition was published in 2005 with a single number. Since 2005, the publishing 3 times a year, in April, August and December (http://ejournal-balitbang.kkp.go.id/index.php/segara/index). The peer-reviewed Journal Segara accepts manuscripts or articles in the oceanography, acoustics and instrumentation, senses, area of non-living resources, energy, underwater archeology and the environment.

Manuscripts are submitted in Journal Segara will be checked in term of writing guideline. When it is appropriate the manuscript will be reviewed by two Evaluators designated by the Chairman of the Editorial Board. Manuscript received will be examined for the plagiation element using Google Scholar network. This journal only accept articles that come from the results of original research (top priority), and articles reviewing recent scientific natures (non-priority) (Bekkeret al., 1999; Bezuidenhoutet al., 2009). Decision for admissibility or non admissibility of the manuscript published in this journal is the rights of the Chairman of the Editorial Board based on the recommendations of the evaluators (Bhaktavatsalam & Choudhury, 1995).

2. Writing Title, Name and Author Address

The title of manuscript, author name (without academic degrees), and the affiliations address of author (s) are written centered on the first page under the title of the manuscript. The distance between the line between the title and the author's name is two spaces, while the distance between the address of author affiliations and the abstract is one space. Keywords should be written below the text of the abstract for each language, arranged in alphabetical order and separated by a semicolon with the number of 3-5 words.

Responsible author or Corresponding Author should be marked with an asterisk followed by a comma "1)" in the above example. At the bottom of the left column of the first page/abstract should be written sign the Responsible author or Corresponding Author and well written the email address (see example). Communication on the revision of the manuscript and the final decision will only be communicated via email the Author Contact.

If the authors of more than one, please write down the names of the authors with separated by a comma (,). If the author's name consists of two words, said first author (first name) should not be abbreviated. If the author's name consists of only one word, write the actual name in one word, however, in the online version (HTML) will be written in two words that contain the same name (repeatedly) for the purposes of indexing the metadata (Camdali & Tunc, 2006; Fridman, 2008).

3. General Intructions to Writing Manuscript

Manuscripts that meet the guidelines for Segara Journal (in MS Word format, use the template of this article) must be submitted through one of the following ways:

  1. Delivery manuscript via e-mail of Journal Segara Editorial (jurnal.segara@gmail.com).
  2. Delivery of manuscripts to Online Submission System in the E - Journal Portal of Journal Segara (http://ejournal-balitbang.kkp.go.id/index.php/segara) after registering as a writer and/or Reviewers in the section "Register".

The intruction to submit a manuscript by online can be found on the Submit Online Instructions below. Manuscripts that are not according to the instructions to writing of Indonesian Fisheries Research Journal will be returned to the author prior to continue the review process.

Manuscripts written must contain components of scientific articles follows (subtitles in order), namely: (a) Article Title, (b) Name of the author (without An academic title), (c) Address of Affiliates Author, (d) Abstract and Keywords, (e) Introduction, (f) Materials and Methods, (g)  Results and Discussion, (h) Conclusion, (i) Acknowledgements, and (j) References.

Writing subtitles on the contents of the article (Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion) are in bold with the Title Case and structured format left without a bottom line price. Sub headings in bold format Sentence case and compiled left flat.

Manuscripts are written in English, in double-spaced typing, with the maximum number of pages to 15 pages, including figures and tables. Articles should be written in a text field size A4 (210 x 297 mm) and with a format 3 cm left margin, right margin 2.5 cm, 2.5 cm top margin and bottom margin of 2.5 cm. The manuscript must be written with the font Times New Roman 12pt font size (unless the article title, author name and title abstract), within two spaces, and in the format of the column. Scientific names are written in italics (Italic). New paragraph starting at 1 cm from the left border, while the missing spaces between paragraphs between. All numbers are written in Arabic numerals, except at the beginning of the sentence. Writing unit is using the International System of Units (SI). Examples of unit symbols abbreviations are: gram (g), liters (L), cubic meters (m3) per cubic meter (m-3).

Tables and Figures are placed in the group after the text of the referenced tables or figures. Each image must be given the title of the image (Figure Caption) on the bottom of the image and numbered in Arabic numerals followed by the title picture. Each table should be given a titled table (Table Caption) and numbered in Arabic numerals on the top of the table followed by the title of the table. The pictures should be printed clearly warranted (font size, resolution and size of the line to be sure printed clearly). Figures and tables and diagrams/schematics should be placed among the groups corresponding column of text, or if too much is placed in the middle of the page. Tables should not contain vertical lines, while the horizontal lines are allowed but only the essentials only.

4. Special Instructions Content Writing Script Manuscript

ARTICLE TITLE: The article title should be written briefly and clearly, and must pinpointing issues to be raised, does not allow its diverse interpretations, written entirely in capital letters symmetrically. Title of the article should not contain abbreviations that are not commonly used. The main ideas put forward in advance a new article is followed by other explanation.

INTRODUCTION: It should contain (in order) the general background, previous literature review (state of the art) as a basis for claiming a scientific novelty of the article, a statement of scientific novelty, and the research problem or hypothesis. At the end of the preliminary assessment purposes it should be written the article. In the scientific article format is not allowed their review of the literature as well as in the research report, but expressed in previous literature review (state of the art) to demonstrate the scientific novelty of the article.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: In Materials and Methods section it contains the main materials used in the study and the methods used in solving the problems, including methods of analysis. The materials are written here only in the form of the main materials only and must be equipped with the brand and its purity (eg: H2SO4 (Merck, 99 % )). Equipment that is written in this section only contains major appliances equipped with the brand (eg: electric Furnace (Carbolite)). The components supporting equipment need not be written. The series should be the main tool in this section is equipped with a caption. Caption placed to be part of the title of the image (figure caption) is not a part of the image. The methods used in the completion of the research written in this section.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Results and Discussion must be separated. This section contains the results of research findings and scientific discussion. Please write the scientific findings (scientific finding) obtained from the results of research that has been done, but must be supported by sufficient data. Scientific findings are referred to here are not the data of the research results. These scientific findings should be explained scientifically include: What kinds of the scientific findings are obtained? Why did it happen? Why is such a variable trend? All these questions must be explained scientifically and not merely descriptive, if necessary it must be supported by the phenomena of adequate scientific basis. Furthermore, it should be explained also in comparison with the results of other researchers about the same topic. The results of the research and findings must be able to answer the research hypotheses in the introduction.

CONCLUSION: Conclusions describe the response of hypotheses and/ or purposes of research or scientific findings obtained. Conclusions not contain looping of results and discussion, but rather to a summary of the findings as expected in purpose or hypothesis. If necessary, at the end of the conclusion it can be also written things that will be associated with further ideas from the research.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: Acknowledgements are mainly addressed to research funders or donors. Acknowledgements can also be delivered to the Parties that support the implementation of research.

REFERENCES: All references referred to in the text of the article must be listed at the References cited at least 25 titles. The refererences cited that comes from his own are a maximum of 5 articles. References should derived from primary sources (scientific journals and amounted to a minimum of 80 % of the total bibliography) published in last 10 (ten) years.

5. Equations Writing Guidance

Each equation is written centered with numbered columns written in parentheses and placed at the end of the right margin. Equations should be written using Equation Editor in MS Word or Open Office (Primack , 1983).

6. Writing Citations /References In Text Articles

Each dataretrieval or quoted from other references, the author must write the reference source. References or citations are written in the description/text by the author's name and the year (Irwan & Salim, 1998). If the author of more than two, then just write the name of the first author followed by "et al." (Bezuidenhout et al., 2009; Roeva, 2012). All referenced in the text must be listed in the References section, and vice versa, all that is written in the References should be cited in the text (Wang et al., 2011).

8. Instruction to Submit Manuscripts Online

Manuscripts should be submitted through one of the following ways:

  1. Delivering of the manuscript is preferably with Online Submission System in the E-Journal Portal Journal Segara (http://ejournal-balitbang.kkp.go.id/index.php/segara/index).
  2. The first author is listed as author and /or Reviewers (checking role as Author and/or Reviewer) on the "Register" or address:  http://ejournal-balitbang.kkp.go.id/index.php/segara/user/register.
  3. Once logged in as an Author, click on "New Submission". Stages submit an article consists of five stages, namely: (1) Start, (2) Upload Submission, (3) Enter Metadata, (4) Upload Supplementary Files, (5) and Confirmation.
  4. Under Start, select the Journal Section (Full Article), check all of the checklist.
  5. In the Upload Submission, please upload a manuscript file in MS Word articles in this section.
  6. In the Enter Metadata, enter data all Authors and their affiliation, followed by the title and abstract, and indexing keywords.
  7. In the Upload Supplementary Files, allowed to upload a file data to support or cover letter or other document.
  8. In the Confirmation, please click "Finish Submission" if all the information is correct.
  9. If the Author has difficulties in the process of submission via online system, the manuscripts can also be sent via e-mail to e-mail Editorial Indonesian Fisheries Research Journal (ifrj.puslitbangkan@gmail.com), however this method is not recommended.

9. Conclusion

Every article that is sent to the editorial office of Journal Segara should follow the instructions of this writing. If the article is not in accordance with this guideline, the manuscript will be sent back to the author before processed further.
